How do I support my brand-new reader?
In many Montessori classrooms, children are introduced to reading through a hands-on, child-led, and developmentally appropriate approach.

Here's how we support your child in a Montessori-aligned way
Respect for the child: Like Montessori, we respect each child as an individual. We use a child's interests, learning style, and development to inform how we personalize their literacy kit. Our personalized approach helps kids feel seen, capable, and confident!
Individualized Learning: Whether they're starting to learn letter sounds, learning to blend words, or beginning to write paragraphs, we can create a kit to meet them exactly where they are. And, we'll use your child's interests to inform what books and writing activities we include in your child's kit. Research shows that when children are interested they're motivated.
Independence: We give our students the responsibility of keeping their binder, books, and learning space organized. We also teach children how to edit their own work and encourage children to choose which books they'd like to read with their parents or caretakers. Through our activities, we want to set children up to become independent learners.
Holistic Development: We believe in nurturing the whole child through multi-sensory activities. We integrate movement, play, and connection into each literacy kit to support each child's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs.
Intrinsic Motivation: Our goal is for children to become lifelong learners. We encourage our students to find joy in reading and writing.
